By the Numbers

July 2024 snapped a four-month heat streak of cybersecurity companies raising at least $1 billion worldwide. However, July typically sees fewer investments in the cybersecurity industry, and this year's July numbers are down compared to 2023 and 2022.

July 2024 cybersecurity funding was distributed across 50 events in 34 unique product categories, with Software Supply Chain Security, Security and Compliance Automation, and Mobile Device Management (MDM) leading the way.

Here is a breakdown of funding events by product category:

Global Distribution

In July 2024, the cybersecurity sector witnessed less variation in global investment activity compared to previous months, with companies from 12 different countries securing funding.

American companies continued to lead the space, capturing 64% of the total funding, which amounts to $831 million, across 32 events. Israel came in second, accounting for 10% of the total global funding, equivalent to $58 million, for five events.

Mergers & Acquisitions

Merger and acquisition activity continued to decline from the previous month. In July 2024, there were 17 transactions, none of which had a publicly listed price or valuation.

Services-based businesses remained dominant in cybersecurity M&A in July 2024, constituting 71% of transactions.
